Never Hide...

Classic Mask Story By Richard BurBridge

This girl whose  name remains a mystery to me has captured my heart with a single stare. A stare that shattered the very foundation of my being and sees to the very soul of me. Though the shoot may be slightly disturbing to most - I find it inspiring. The use of hardware is interesting and I adore the primitive & historical references. (Fourth mask down reminds me of the two part helmut worn by samurai in the Edo period)  I find that in an effort to make art grand and awe-filled we miss the basics - that's what these photo's posses. A girl, a prop, a camera.

Dries Van Noten S/S11

The spring collection was shown in Paris.

The collection is inspired by the Belgian artist Jef Verheyen and Chinese ceramics. The meeting between the masculine and Feminine, which seems typical of Dries Van Noten, appeared also in this collection with oversized jackets over both wide-leg trousers and pencil skirts. Skirt over
pants and long coat in combination with wide trousers, little changed as what we saw in our Swedish designers spring and summer. The colors were white, black, light yellow and pink. All colors have been seen in many of the spring and summer of 2011 and the common denominator for many collections, so far, has been the bright and clean aesthetics.

Personally, I was a little disappointed when Dries Van Noten usually belong to my favorites. A nice range of colors, sure, but nothing we have not seen anywhere else and even if I have a feeling that the collection will grow in my eyes the more I look at it, it's not a "wow".

As high fashion and fairy tale meets, the fantasy goes along way. From the Runway
clothing to the extreme accessories. Takes me back to my child hood memories where I
once dreamed of fairy tales being my reality and in this case it is. All the credit goes to
photographer Benjamin Alexander Huseby and stylist Nicola Formichetti.

Burberry Prorsum S/S11

 Collection Overview

For spring and summer of 2011,Christopher Bailey, the head designer for Burberry, invested in short biker jackets in all its forms. We saw a lime green version in leather, studded in several variants and a fantastic palette that made me think about Acnes pre run. Otherwise it was a more daring collection than before. Colors that synthesize were lime green, yellow ( probably the it colors for spring and summer 2011), silver and purple mixed with the classic beige and leopard pattern.

Trench-coat's were also involved, of course . The models wore black high boots, which apparently must have been pretty hard to walk in, not one but three models were rumored to have stumbled and had to take off their shoes.

Sarah Jessica Parker, Cat Deeley, Anna Wintour, Carine Roitfeld and Alexa Chung were some who appeared on the front row while Drée Hemingway and Pixie Geldof had to settle for second line, something that Pixie seemed to grimace on Alexa before the show started.

If I'm honest Burberry has never been a personal favorite but I must say I was pleasantly surprised. This time, Christopher Bailey dared to put an edge on the collection and it will be interesting to see how things have gone with the clothes that are out there for sale right now.

I am simply besotted with the lighting in these images. The clean angles, the simple silhouettes, and body language are nice. This shoot isn't over-stylized which is charming. I feel these models embody the everyday congenial fashion savvy girl.

The dog days are over..

Florence And The Machines are amazing. Not only lyrically & vocally, but rhythmically the blend of folk, soul, and rock is astonishing. The english pop artist Florence Welch video "Dog Days Are Over" is a breath of fresh air. The simple concept with its tribal connotations, vibrant colors, and dream like dancing about love bringing forth beehived blue women, drumming giants and cape-clad harp players add visual poetry to already poetic lyrics.Geogie Greville and Geremy Jasper (the directors) hit the nail on the head. I can be in the worst mood and watching this amazing video, all my problems are gone.

                             Chau Har Lee SS11

Chau har lee's designs unique and immediately recognizable pair conceptual aesthetics with
modern technologies. Har Lee plays with the notion of space, as reflective heel suggest an
illusion of walking on air, dramatic cut out details distorting the shape of the foot, the metallic
detailing framing the back of the wedge such artistry. The orange and black perspex
also add a nice futuristic touch.

Robert Gellar S/S 11

This is a line I can say I am a major fan of. The interesting hues of green and khaki catch the eye. The proportions of the shorts and trousers are flattering and the knits are impeccable. I do wish there was a more vibrant color incorporated in the pallet.I know, I know, there are bits of red in the line ,but to me red is dead. Maybe cerulean, I would like to see more blues for the coming spring/summer season, the grey at the bottom with cerulean would compliment each other in my opinion.

Beautiful Soul :Gerard Malanga

Gerard Malanga holds an interesting place in the history of pop culture as one of the founders of the Legendary Factory, along with Andy Warhol and Billy Linich. Recently, there has been a exhibition of his photograhy entitled Souls at the Pierre Menard Gallery in Massachusetts, which I have been dying to go see, but since schools in section and Massachusetts is oh so far - away these picture will have to do...

I've been keeping a file of inspiration photos, and among them, these are the
ones I would like to share with you. The things I truly love oversized cosy cardigans, hardware jewelry, see through tops.... I would die for the Celine jacket and Alexander Wang boots.
